Good reeds are rare. To make a good reed lots of variables have to align. The quality of the cane, the machines and the method used heavly impact the final product.
This is how I assure to have the best possible results.
Frist of all: cane selection. Finding the best pieces of cane is the base for making good reeds.
I have an archive where I schedule all the cane that I use for making a reeds. With hundreds of new data every year I keep an updated database on all the cane used and how I made each reed. This allow me to understand better what kind of cane to use and if there is change in quality by the cane provider and how I can adjust my reeds accordingly.
I number every tube of cane and I continue working only on one piece of cane for each tube. I gouge it, I check its hardness and the overall quality.
Each time I receive a new order of a Custum Cane Reed I will assign a numbered tube that has passed the quality selection for each reed requested.
I will keep the other 3 pieces of each tube for at least 3 months. If the custumer of a reed finds that one of the bought reed is particulary good, he just needs to make a new order and ask for the same number written on the reed and I will make the other 3 pieces. This increases drastically the probability to have good reeds as a result.
Another important aspect to improve the quality of my reeds is that I finish every reed manually. I have set my profiler and a tip profiler to reduce the manual work that I have to do at the minimum, but I find that a human touch is needed to get the best result. I tried lots of different tip profilers from different makers and with different patterns. Since now I couldn't find a tip profiler that would satisfy me. I find that the reeds that I finish manually are much more consistent and of overall better quality.

Custom Cane Reed - 20 Euro
I will keep the tubes used for each reed for 3 months and you can order more reeds from each. This system allows for a higher quality product, with the characteristics that best suit the you.
Standard Reed - 18 Euro
Reed made from tubes selected by me.
